Understanding Universal Values and Ethics
The 7 commandments for all of humanity are a set of universal ethical guidelines that integrate the core principles of the Ten Commandments into a framework for all humanity, particularly for non-Jews. While the Ten Commandments include specific laws for the Jewish people, the Universal laws omit certain commandments that are unique to Judaism, such as keeping the Sabbath holy, honoring parents, and the two commandments regarding the first two tables of stone related to idolatry and blasphemy. The Universal laws encompass the principles of the second table of stone, which are seen as universally applicable to all people.
